During my visit to Porto, I found myself captivated by the beauty and tranquility of the Jardins do Palácio de Cristal, just a short 2 km from the bustling Mercado do Bolhão. The gardens were a serene oasis amidst the city's vibrant atmosphere, where I could stroll through lush landscapes and admire stunning views of the Douro River. The well-manicured lawns, vibrant flowerbeds, and elegant pathways offered a perfect escape, allowing me to immerse myself in nature while still being close to the heart of Porto. The proximity to iconic landmarks like the Estádio do Dragão and the historic Fernandine Wall made it an ideal spot to take a breather before exploring further.
Equally enchanting were the nearby architectural treasures, like the intricately designed Livraria Lello and the towering Clerigos Tower. The liveliness of Mercado do Bolhão, with its rich array of local produce and crafts, provided a flavor of the local culture that was hard to resist. I also enjoyed venturing to the Monument Church of St. Francis and the Porto Cathedral, which showcased Porto’s deeply rooted history and stunning Baroque architecture. The Church of Saint Ildefonso, adorned with beautiful azulejos, further enriched my experience by highlighting the city's artistic heritage.
