During my visit to Porto, I was captivated by the vibrant energy and stunning architecture of Avenida dos Aliados, which is just a short 0.5 km stroll from my accommodation. This grand avenue, often considered the heart of the city, is lined with impressive buildings that reflect the neoclassical style intertwined with modern influences. I enjoyed taking leisurely walks along the avenue, especially when the sun began to set, casting a warm glow over the bustling crowds and the iconic City Hall. The atmosphere was electric, filled with street performers, cafes, and locals, making it a perfect spot to soak in the city's lively spirit.

A visit to Porto wouldn't be complete without exploring the historical treasures nearby. The Bolsa Palace, located a mere 2 km from my base, was an absolute highlight. As I stepped into this magnificent building, I was awestruck by its opulent interiors and rich history. The Arab Room, adorned with intricate details and ethereal designs, transported me to a different era. I also took the time to visit the nearby Portuguese Centre of Photography, which offered a fascinating insight into the country's photographic heritage. Its modern exhibitions, set within a former prison, created an intriguing contrast against the backdrop of the city’s more traditional landmarks.

Nature and relaxation beckoned me to the Jardins do Palácio de Cristal, situated just 1 km away. The beautifully landscaped gardens provided a serene escape from the urban hustle and bustle. As I wandered through the manicured pathways, the views of the Douro River and the cityscape were nothing short of breathtaking. The charm of this oasis was complemented by the vibrant flowers and tranquil spots perfect for reflection. After soaking in the serenity of the gardens, I made my way to Ribeira Square, approximately 2 km from my starting point. The lively atmosphere, with its colorful facades and riverside cafes, made for a perfect ending to my exploration, where I could indulge in local culinary delights and take in the picturesque sights of Porto’s waterfront.
