Impressions

During my visit to Porto, I found myself captivated by the stunning architecture and rich history that surrounded me. One of the highlights of my trip was the Bolsa Palace, located just 2 kilometers away. This neoclassical gem, originally built to serve as a stock exchange, boasted intricate interiors that reflected the affluence of the city during the 19th century. As I strolled through the richly decorated rooms, especially the Arab Room with its ornate details, I felt transported back in time. The palace’s grandeur perfectly encapsulated Porto's artistic heritage, making it a memorable stop on my itinerary.

Another delightful experience was my exploration of Mercado do Bolhão, situated merely 1 kilometer from my accommodation. This bustling market, renowned for its vibrant atmosphere, offered an array of local produce, artisanal goods, and the opportunity to immerse myself in the daily life of Porto. I relished the sights, sounds, and smells as I wandered through the stalls, sampling fresh cheeses and cured meats while chatting with friendly vendors who proudly shared stories about their products. It was a true feast for the senses and allowed me to appreciate the local culture beyond the typical tourist attractions.

The iconic Ponte de Dom Luís I, a mere 2 kilometers from my base, was another highlight of my trip. As I crossed the double-deck iron bridge, I was struck by the breathtaking panoramic views of Porto's riverside and the Douro River flowing below. The architectural marvel not only connected the two banks of the river but also provided an incredible vantage point for capturing stunning photos, especially at sunset when the city was bathed in golden light. My journey then continued to nearby Ribeira Square, a lively hub where I enjoyed a leisurely meal while soaking in the ambiance of the waterfront. The combination of rich historical sites, local market vibrancy, and breathtaking views made my visit to Porto an unforgettable experience.
