Impressions
During my visit to Porto, I was truly captivated by the stunning architectural marvels that filled the city. One of my favorite stops was the iconic Livraria Lello, a breathtaking bookstore often celebrated for its intricate wooden staircase and ornate details. The ambiance within, infused with the smell of old books, felt like stepping into a magical realm, and it was easy to lose track of time as I browsed through its extensive collection. Nearby, the majestic Clerigos Tower provided an awe-inspiring backdrop, and climbing to the top rewarded me with panoramic views of Porto's charming streets and rooftops. The nearby Chafariz da Rua Escura, with its unique Baroque style, added to the enchanting vibe, offering a serene place to pause and appreciate the beauty of the city's historical artistry.
Additionally, I was deeply impressed by the rich history embodied in the Episcopal Palace and Bolsa Palace. The grandeur of the Episcopal Palace, with its beautiful gardens and elaborate architecture, stood as a testament to Porto's religious heritage. Just a stone's throw away, the Bolsa Palace showcased stunning neoclassical design, particularly the mesmerizing Arabian Room that left a lasting impression. The iconic Ponte de Dom Luis I, a marvel of engineering spanning the Douro River, was another highlight, beautifully illuminated at night and serving as a connection between the lively riverside and the historic district. Completing my exploration was the unforgettable visit to the Monument Church Of St Francis, where the elaborate golden interior and Baroque style left me in sheer awe. Each of these landmarks added layers of charm and depth to my experience in Porto, making it a city rich with both culture and beauty.
